Become Someone Else for a While
Computer video games can be a lot of fun, and can be a great way to take your mind off of your troubles, especially if you play role-playing games. These games are not only popular with children and adolescents, but adults as well. While you play this type of computer game, you can completely absorb yourself in your character, and forget about your troubles, which is one reason that role playing computer games are so popular.
Depending on what game you play, you will be able to create your own character, and in some cases, in your own likeness if you choose. You can decide to be a fighter, killing beasties with your hands, feet, and weapon, or a magic user, blasting away at your enemies with fireballs and lighting bolts galore. When you are stressed out, there is nothing more satisfying than seeing your enemy explodes in flames, believe me. While these games may not be suitable for people of all ages, they can be a lot of fun, especially for us overworked, stressed out adults.
In most role-playing games, a lot of your time will be spent doing quests, and solving puzzles. You will gain experience, and levels with every monster you defeat, and every quest or riddle you solve.
Some of these computer games can be hard to navigate in, even if you have a map at your disposal. You have to become familiar with the user interface, and get used to walking around in 3-d, before you can expect to really enjoy game play.
Much like many of the popular console games, such as Final Fantasy, in computer role playing games, you will arm yourself with the best weapons and armor that you can find, and then head out to defeat your foes, looking for special items, money, and experience points along the way. Your goal will be to gain power, and make your character as tough and strong as possible, so that you can tackle the higher level foes with ease.
There are many different types of computer role playing games on the market, from games such as Everquest and Heroes of Might and Magic, to simulation games, such as Crusader, or Age of Empires. If you were ever a fan of the old style pen and paper game Dungeons and Dragons, then chances are, you would greatly enjoy playing computer role playing games as well. While you aren’t rolling dice, or pushing pen paper, you are hacking and slashing your way through mobs of monsters, dungeons, caves, and even polluted ancient towns.
Just don’t fall so in love with your computer role-playing games that you shirk your real life responsibilities, which happens to some people. While the game world may seem like a better place than the real world, you still belong here, and have real world obligations.
